where is the life (longevity); h ≥ 1, q ≥ 1 are the controlling parameters. According to (3.37) if h ≥ 1, q = 1, then the phenomena of material softening (the convex curve in Fig. 3.13) are dominant, while, on the contrary, at q > 1, h = 1 these are the phenomena of material hardening (the concave curve in Fig. 3.13). It is not difficult to understand that these phenomena are caused by the dynamics of motion: the strengthening is “realized” on the left branch of the parabola (Group of plots 1 in Fig. 3.11) when (Fig. 3.8) and the softening—on the right branch of the parabola (Group of plots 3 in Fig. 3.11) when (Fig. 3.8). At h = 1, q = 1 the system is stable (dotted line in Fig. 3.13 and curves 2 in Fig. 3.11), so that (Fig. 3.8). In the general case, h > 1, q > 1 the processes of hardening–softening of the system are determined by the parameter ratio h/q and are described by more complex (S-shaped) curves (Fig. 3.13) that are consistent with curves 4 in Fig. 3.11.
